Following up for the post made earlier today regarding the erection of a fence panel at the end of the footpath between Tudor Rose Way and the Co op Car Park the Town Council can now confirm the following:
Hastoe Housing Association erected a fence at the Co-op end of the path due to ongoing issues with anti-social behaviour. They believed this measure would help mitigate the problem. However, it has come to our attention that the footpath in question is an adopted footpath under the jurisdiction of Norfolk County Council, and therefore, it should remain unobstructed at all times.
We have communicated this to the Housing Officer involved, and Hastoe has since acknowledged the issue. In response to concerns about safety, particularly with some fence panels being pulled off and leaving exposed nails, Hastoe has committed to making the area safe as a matter of urgency.
Hastoe recognises the anti-social behaviour problems highlighted by their residents and is keen to find a solution. We have provided them with contact details for the Highways department and suggested that they collaborate with the Police to explore effective strategies for curbing this behaviour.
