Redenhall with Harleston Neighbourhood Plan

The Redenhall with Harleston Neighbourhood Plan was formally made part of the Development Plan by South Norfolk Council on 17th October 2021.  This followed the positive outcome of a referendum on 22nd September 2022, where 86% of those who voted were in favour of the plan.  The Neighbourhood Plan will will shape the future of Redenhall with Harleston to 2038.

The Neighbourhood Plan covers the whole of the parish of Redenhall with Harleston and was prepared by a steering group on behalf of the Town Council.

The Neighbourhood Plan now forms one of the main considerations in determining any future planning applications submitted in Redenhall with Harleston.

 About Redenhall with Harleston

Redenhall with Harleston is a historic market town and parish in South Norfolk, valued for its strong sense of community, rich heritage, surrounding countryside and local services. The town serves not only its residents but also neighbouring rural communities, providing shops, schools, employment, health services and cultural activities.

Redenhall with Harleston Town Council is committed to ensuring that future change is carefully planned, locally informed and supports the long-term wellbeing of the town and parish.

 What Is a Neighbourhood Plan?

A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led planning document that sets out a shared vision for the future of the parish. It establishes planning policies that guide how development and change should take place, covering issues such as:

  • Housing growth and design
  • Protection of local character and heritage
  • Landscape and green spaces
  • Transport and parking
  • Employment and local economy
  • Community facilities and infrastructure

Once formally adopted, the Neighbourhood Plan becomes part of the statutory development plan and is used by South Norfolk Council when determining planning applications.

 Our Vision for Redenhall with Harleston

The Neighbourhood Plan reflects the views and priorities of local residents, businesses and community groups. It is a community led document for guiding the future development of the parish.

Redenhall with Harleston Town Council’s Role

The Town Council is responsible for overseeing the preparation, review and ongoing monitoring of the Neighbourhood Plan. This includes:

  • Leading community engagement and consultation
  • Working with South Norfolk Council and other partners
  • Considering feedback from residents and stakeholders
  • Ensuring the Plan remains relevant and up to date

The Town Council is committed to transparency and meaningful community involvement throughout the neighbourhood plan process.
