On Tuesday 5th September Redenhall with Harleston Town Council welcomed HM The Lord Lieutenant for Norfolk The Lady Dannatt MBE to the Recreation Ground in Harleston.
Opening speeches were given by Cllr Paul MBA, Chair of Redenhall with Harleston Town Council who thanked everyone for coming and welcomed HM Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, Lady Dannatt who had been specially invited to officially open the new refurbished toddler play area.

Chair of the Town Council thanked everyone who had been involved with the project and getting it completed in such a timely manner, including The Leisure Centre Management Committee, The Harleston Children’s Play and Recreation Association, Harleston Town Football Club and Harleston Town Council staff.

The sun was shining, and we welcomed members of the local community and families to help Lady Dannatt cut the ribbon and open the play area. Lady Dannatt was then presented with posy of flowers (in her favourite colour – white) which was followed by tea, cake and play activities for the children.

Children enjoyed a free toddler play session, with painting and bubbles.

Ryan from Harleston’s library generously offered his time and read a story under the trees with a welcoming breeze.

The children can now enjoy the new addition of the ‘Talking Tubes’

The old main structure was replaced with a lovely new structure.

And a lovely new shop front panel giving the opportunity for role play which is so important in this age range.
After the event Lady Dannatt thanked Cllr Paul MBA for such a very special, happy and sun-filled morning, she enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many outstanding volunteers and members of the community, who together make Harleston the extraordinary town it is. She thanked everyone who made the morning the successful and joyful occasion it was.
The play area was funded by section 106 monies which are held by South Norfolk District Council when developments happen within the area, the team at Redenhall with Harleston Town Council were able to secure the funding and instruct the new equipment to be installed.
