Tomorrow, Redenhall with Harleston Town Council and the Harleston & District Branch of the Royal British Legion will unite with communities across the country for a shared moment of celebration and remembrance.
In Harleston, we have planned a meaningful day of events to mark this special anniversary, and we warmly invite you to join us in paying tribute to those who served and sacrificed.
Event Schedule
9:00 AM Flag Raising & Proclamation
At the War Memorial, our Town Crier, Norman Steer, will read the official VE Day 80 proclamation as we raise the commemorative flag. This will be followed by a moment of remembrance.
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Morning Gathering at the Market Place
Bring a cup of tea and a chair and join us for a relaxed morning gathering in the Market Place—a chance to reflect, connect, and celebrate together.
9:00 PM Act of Remembrance
We return to the War Memorial for a solemn tribute, laying 24 individual crosses in honour of the men of Harleston, Wortwell, and Redenhall who lost their lives during World War II.
9:30 PM Tribute & Community Singing
We will join the nation in lighting the VE Day lamp, gather for a reading of the Tribute and Harleston Choral Society leading us in the hymn ‘I Vow to Thee, My Country’.
