On the 18th January 2022, the Town Council received communication from the Senior Community Planning Officer for South Norfolk Council who confirmed that following the submission of the proposed Redenhall with Harleston Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documentation to South Norfolk Council on 29th November 2021, the local planning authority has (in accordance with paragraph 6 of Schedule 4B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990) made an initial assessment of the documentation and is satisfied that this complies with the specified criteria.
South Norfolk Council will shortly be publishing the submitted Neighbourhood Plan and associated documentation, in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The publication period will last for six weeks and, during this period, the public and other stakeholders will be able to make comments on the document. This period will be followed by an independent examination of the Neighbourhood Plan, undertaken by a qualified, independent individual, still to be appointed.
The consultation will be available on the South Norfolk Council website, at: www.southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk/emerging-neighbourhood-plans-south-norfolk/redenhall-harleston-neighbourhood-plan and all the consultation documents will be available to view in Harleston Library.
They will be in contact again once they are due to commence their Regulation 16 consultation.
It will then proceed to independent examination later in the Spring. The Neighbourhood Plan steering group will receive the Examiner’s report and make amendments where required. A referendum date will then be announced.
At referendum, every resident of Redenhall with Harleston, who is entitled to vote in South Norfolk Council elections and is 18 years or over, will have the opportunity to vote on whether or not they agree with the Neighbourhood Plan.
A Neighbourhood Plan is a planning policy document written by the community to guide future development in the area. This will be of great importance at a time when there are proposals for significant development in town. It will also provide the Town Council with a greater allocation of the Community Infrastructure Levy which is paid by the developer to South Norfolk Council.
