In 2021 Redenhall with Harleston Town Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant, created in collaboration with the Harleston and District Royal British Legion and South Norfolk Council.
As per the covenant we have a dedicated Armed Forces Champion which is currently Cllr John Graham. We are proud of the close ties between the Town Council and the Royal British Legion and we endeavour in our business dealing to uphold the key principles of the covenant.
As a Town Council we work closely with the Harleston & District Royal British Legion including coming together for acts of remembrance at our War Memorial and events associated with the Armed Forces. What is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The aim of the Armed Forces Covenant is to encourage support for the Armed Forces Community residing in Redenhall with Harleston and to recognise and remember the sacrifice made by members of the Armed Forces Community, which includes serving and former Armed Forces personnel, veterans, their families and widowers.
We are committed to providing all the help we can to our forces, and their families. The role will strengthen the bonds between communities, raise awareness and we can also provide links to those who can offer practical support. We will help signpost people to this information who can then receive support on housing, health and wellbeing, education and training, accessing council services, and assistance for a smoother transition into civilian life and the wider community. Wherever we are not able to directly provide the service or advice we will endeavour to guide people to the appropriate resource.
