A new plaque marking the site of Harleston’s Blacker Bombard was unveiled on the Recreation Ground on Sunday 27 September.
The plaque was unveiled by Norfolk Deputy Lieutenant Philippa Taylor, whose family has a historic association with the Recreation Ground. Members of the Town Council and Harleston & District Branch of the Royal British Legion and local residents were also present.
Harleston resident and former Town Councillor, Michael Hardy shared a few words about the history of the Blacker Bombard, which remains buried on the Recreation Ground.
