Christmas Market & Lights Switch-On in Harleston – Saturday 26th November 2022
Christmas is fast approaching, and the Christmas Lights committee, Harleston’s Future and many other volunteer groups have been preparing for this year’s festivities. There will be market stallholders plus singers and choirs, which are sure to draw residents and visitors to the town on the day. As Christmas is a good time for business, we hope that you will help to make the day a great success by staying open all day.
As you will be aware, the road improvements and closures will still be in place in the town centre, so the festivities for this year’s Christmas Market will be reduced due to Health and Safety reasons. This means that there will not be any Christmas trees in the brackets down The Thoroughfare. To try and compensate for this reduction in festive lights, greater effort is being put into making the Market Place especially colourful and the clocktower will be decorated in much the same style as in previous years. New tree lights for the Market Place tree have been purchased from fund raised money, which should make a spectacular difference. The Tree, is, once again, being sponsored by JD Youngs.
The Christmas Market will start once the stalls have set up and will continue until after the lights switch-on which will take place at around 4.45pm. The programme for the day will include
- The Harleston Sancroft Academy Choir (Primary phase) – 11.00am – 11.30am
- Harleston Carol Singers – 12.30pm – 1.00pm
- My Choir Rocks – 3.00pm – 3.30pm
- Station 366 – 3.45pm – 4.30pm
- Park Radio from 1:00pm until 6:00pm
- Santa’s Grotto will be open from 1.00pm – 1.30pm for children with additional needs and then will remain open until 4.30pm when the switch-on of the tree is scheduled. As always Santa’s Grotto will be in Harleston Information Plus.
- St. John’s Church Christmas Fayre – Broad Street – 9.30am – 4.00pm
Please note that from 7:00am to 7:00pm – Exchange Street will be closed to traffic.
