Signage – Along with many people in our community, we were dismayed at the signage used for the traffic diversions due to the roadworks at London Road near the Market Place. We experienced similar signage confusion when restrictions were in place during Covid and had hoped that the same did not happen again. At that time further signage was added to indicate that it was otherwise ‘Business Open as Usual’.
Unfortunately, the signage has been put up without consultation with the Town Council and people who live in and use Harleston. Some people believe the signage misleading giving the impression that the town is closed. We have further requested that the Project Manager from Norfolk County Council, visits the site to discuss the signage with people who live in the town and understand how it works. We await a response.
Business Visits – We were informed that the Project Manager would be visiting businesses along the Thoroughfare to discuss their requirements during the roadworks, and have released messages to that effect. We have received enquiries asking when these visits will take place. We have also raised this with the Project Manager requesting confirmation of the dates and times of the visit so that business owners can arrange to be available. We await a response.
581 Bus Diversions – We have been informed that the bus stop on Broad Street near St John’s Church will be closed. Busses will be stopping and turning at Station Road. We have put up a sign at the bus stop.
36a Bus Diversions – Harleston to Norwich via Scole. Will collect from Broad Street and travel through Mendham Lane to Spirkett’s Lane and onto Shotford Road before continuing to the A143 on Needham Road and the onto Scole.
