STRO14106 – Update to works on Needham Road/ London Road, Harleston

13.03.26 Update to roadworks being completed on the Needham Road / London Road.

We have been notified by Norfolk County Council of an extension has been requested by Cadent due to complications. This work will continue until 20th March 2026.

A diversion will be put in place via Spirketts Lane, due to an emergency road closure on Shotford Road.

 

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO14106) affecting the C571 Needham Road/ London Road from 80 metres north of its junction with B1116 Shortford Road for 370 metres south-westwards (the “Road”) in the Town of Redenhall with Harleston to facilitate gas main replacement works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 9th February to 13th March 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 13th September 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

NB: Please note that access will be given to B1116 Shortford Road up to the points of closure.

Alternative route is via: Clockwise: London Road, The Thoroughfare, Redenhall Road, A143 Harleston Bypass, High Road, Needham Road. Anti Clockwise: Needham Road – High Road – A143 Harleston Bypass – Redenhall Road – Broad Street – Church Street – London Road (Redenhall with Harleston, Needham)

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Cadent.

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 13th September 2026 without further notice.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.
