We’re pleased to share some positive news regarding the recent vehicle fire that occurred at one of the EV charging points in the Coop Car Park.
Following the incident, several neighbouring residents contacted the Town Council to express their concerns about the proximity of the EV chargers to residential properties. Understandably, they requested that the chargers be moved to reduce the risk in the unlikely event of a similar incident occurring in the future.
The Town Council promptly passed these concerns on to the District Council, which owns and operates the EV charging points. While the process has taken some time, we are happy to report that your voices have been heard.
We can now confirm that the EV chargers will be relocated to the central isle of the Coop Car Park, away from nearby homes. This decision has been made with safety and peace of mind in mind for all local residents.
The relocation work is scheduled to take place next week and is expected to cause minimal disruption to normal services.
Thank you to everyone who raised their concerns—your input has made a difference.
