Memorial Leisure Centre building update

Thank you to the Harleston community for supporting us through this challenging week, following the flooding that happened here over the Bank holiday weekend.

As you’re aware, flood water caused damage to flooring, furniture, equipment and electrical systems. For the safety of the public and our employees, we took the difficult decision to temporarily close the building, including the Council offices.

The building remains closed while contractors work to assess and repair the damage. We’d especially like to thank the fantastic local trades people and specialists who rallied round so quickly to support us.

With the continued support of these fantastic local contractors, we’re hopeful that the building will be made safe within the coming days.

In the meantime, the Leisure Centre team has moved gym equipment onto the Recreation Ground, so you can continue training, and all classes will continue outside until further notice. If you’re planning to attend a session, please note that there will be no access to toilet or changing facilities during this time, and make sure you bring plenty of drinking water.

The small car park, accessed from London Road, is also closed to the public and is only for use by those who have approved access during this time.

We’ll continue to keep you updated. Thank you again for your understanding and patience.
