Roadworks update

Stay up to date with roadworks

We know many residents and local businesses have been feeling frustrated by the ongoing roadworks around the town, and we want you to know that we hear you.

Roadworks fall under the remit of Norfolk County Council Highways and in many cases, the Town Council isn’t made aware of roadworks until they start. But we will always do our best to keep you informed as soon as we are made aware of them, and as far in advance as possible.

This week, we met with the NCC Streetworks team, who are responsible for approving roadworks and ensuring appropriate signage is in place. We gave them your feedback on how the disruption of recent roadworks has been, and how the signage needed to be improved. They have ensured that future roadworks will have improved signage directing drivers to the town centre.

Streetworks also let us know about several projects expected to begin over the coming months. As soon as dates and details are confirmed, we will pass this information on to you.

The Streetworks team have also reassured us that they carefully plan roadworks to:

  • ensure diversion routes are considerate and well thought out
  • make sure signage is clear, accurate, and easy to follow
  • avoid too many roadworks taking place at the same time, so movement around the town can continue to flow
  • prevent works from taking place during key periods, such as school exam times or major local events

To stay up to date with planned roadworks, you can subscribe to Traffic Order updates on our homepage. For live updates as they happen, visit www.one.network/uk/norfolk.

We hope that you’ll notice an improvement in the signage put up for future roadworks. Thank you for your patience, and please be assured that we will continue to communicate updates whenever we can.
