Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO11889) affecting the A140 The Street from its junction with C500 Flowerpot Lane for 200m northwards (the “Road”) in the Town of Long Stratton to facilitate Norfolk County Council drainage works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 19:00 and 06:00 from 11th to 14th December 2024 only whilst signs indicating closures are in place, but may continue to be closed until the 25th January 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: A140 Ipswich Road, Norwich Road, A146 Lakenham Road, Barrett Road, Trowse Bypass, Loddon Road, Loddon Bypass, Beccles Road, A143 Yarmouth Road, Broome Bypass, Bungay Road, Old Railway Road, Bungay Road, Harleston Bypass, Brockdish Needham Bypass, Scole Road, Bungay Road, Lower Street, Scole Stuston Bypass, A140 Scole Bypass, Dickleburgh Bypass (Brome and Oakley, Stockton, Framingham Pigot, Brockdish, Pulham Market, Swainsthorpe, Redenhall with Harleston, Bungay, Earsham, Ellingham, Ditchingham, Stuston, Chedgrave, Trowse with Newton, Kirby Bedon, Denton, Dickleburgh and Rushall, Yelverton, Keswick and Intwood, Broome, Stoke Holy Cross, Needham, Hellington, Hales, Scole, Tivetshall, Wacton, Gillingham, Tasburgh, Saxlingham Nethergate, Ashby St. Mary, Loddon, Long Stratton, Sisland, Thurton, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley, Wortwell, Kirby Cane, Alburgh, Burston and Shimpling, Holverston, Newton Flotman).
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 25th January 2025 without further notice.
If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.
A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.
