Vandalism of the Play Area

The council has noted that that there have been a number of social media posts regarding the vandalism of the play area and arson on the recreation ground.

The council would like to clarify that these were two separate incidents.  The first being a small fire located in a refuse bin on the recreation ground.  The cost of replacing the bin is £120.

The second incident involved the vandalism of the toddler play area and included graffitiing and damage to the structure of the play house.  This piece of equipment has sustained numerous bouts of vandalism.  Please be aware that every time equipment is damaged or vandalised there is a cost to repair, in both materials and man hours.  This is then paid from precept money.

The police reported that there had been 17k worth of damage in the play area.  This is not the case but to renew this area with a like for like structure would cost around this figure.

The council are currently investigating possible investment of new equipment in this area and will be circulating plans and polls on social media to get feedback from the community on the types of equipment you would like to see.  Please keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for further infomation
