Redenhall with Harleston Town Council have heard from Norfolk County Council who want to find out what people think about their proposal to switch off a further 2% of Norfolk County Council maintained streetlights.
On 01 November 2024, Norfolk County Council launched a public consultation on a saving proposal to reduce street lighting in areas across Norfolk by a further 2%. The street lighting proposal forms part of a package of savings that have been put forward for consultation which is due to run until 16 December 2024. The proposal focuses on switching off lights on unclassified roads in industrial areas, with low usage and low accident history. To inform any decision they make, Norfolk County Council are seeking feedback from identified key stakeholders, including directly affected parish councils, county council members, and emergency services as such, roads within Harleston form part of this consultation.

Each area will be assessed in detail before any decisions regarding de-illumination are finalised, however your comments at this stage will help to inform any decisions made.
The consultation runs from Friday 1 November 2024 and closes on Monday 16 December 2024.
