You may have noticed Speed Awareness Monitors (also known as SAM2) around Harleston. These portable radar devices display approaching vehicles’ speeds to encourage drivers to follow speed limits.
SAM2 machines collect anonymous data on vehicle speeds, traffic volumes and peak traffic times, which will help us to understand local traffic patterns and discuss road safety concerns with Norfolk County Council and other partners.
The devices are rotated between approved locations to gather information across different roads and neighbourhoods. No individual vehicles or drivers are identified, and the data is used solely to support traffic monitoring and road safety.
Thank you to residents and motorists for their cooperation while this information is collected to help inform future road safety and traffic management discussions.
