Urgent temporary overnight closure of A140 in the Parish of Tivetshall – NCC resurfacing works (my ref STRO11093)

Amendment 1st July 2024

Norfolk County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO11093) affecting the A140 from 165m north of its junction with Rectory Road to a point 1050m south of its junction with C360 Semere Lane (the “Road”) in the Parish of Tivetshall to facilitate resurfacing works. The Order continues the provisions of the Notice dated 28th June 2024 that the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 2nd to 18th July 2024 (previously 28th June to 1st July 2024), but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 29th August 2024 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Alternative route is via: A140 Ipswich Road, A140, A143, A146, Martineau Lane, Barrett Road, Hall Road, Ipswich Road, Norwich Road, The Street (Newton Flotman, Brome and Oakley, Stockton, Framingham Pigot, Brockdish, Pulham Market, Swainsthorpe, Redenhall with Harleston, Bungay, Earsham, Ellingham, Ditchingham,
Stuston, Chedgrave, Trowse with Newton, Kirby Bedon, Denton, Dickleburgh and Rushall, Yelverton, Keswick and Intwood, Broome, Stoke Holy Cross, Needham, Hellington, Hales, Scole, Tivetshall, Wacton, Gillingham, Tasburgh, Saxlingham Nethergate, Ashby St. Mary, Loddon, Long Stratton, Sisland, Thurton, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley, Wortwell, Kirby Cane, Alburgh, Burston and Shimpling, Holverston).

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 29th August 2024 without further notice.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Tivetshall (STRO11093) Notice

In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to resurfacing works the use by vehicles (of any class/specific class) of the A140 from 165m north of its junction with Rectory Road to a point 1050m south of its junction with C360 Semere Lane (the “Road”) in the Parish of Tivetshall will be temporarily prohibited.

The closure is necessary or expedient because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The closure is anticipated to take place overnight between 19:00 and 06:00 between 28th June and 1st July 2024 only when signs indicating the closure are in place.

This Notice shall be in effect from 28th June 2024 to 1st July 2024 or until the closure is no longer necessary, whichever is the earliest.

This Notice shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 1st July 2024 without further notice.

If necessary, this Notice may be extended for a maximum of 18 months from the date this Notice is effective by an Order.
