Last week some of our Councillors and the Town Clerk visited the new Lovell development at Briarswood, fully kitted out in hard hats and hi vis!
We viewed the land set aside for allotments and for future community use.
The Section 106 (S106) agreement, which is a legal requirement ensures new housing developments give back to the community. For example this could be through land, open space, play areas or contributions to local facilities.
At Briarswood, the S106 agreement means Lovell must provide:
• land for community use, allotments and public open space
• an option for the Town Council to take ownership of the community land and allotments as the site develops
We’ll continue working with South Norfolk District Council and Lovell on the next steps, including future facilities and further site visits for councillors.
It was great to see the progress on site and where these new community spaces will be located.
A big thank you to Joe Jackson at Lovell for the tour (and the PPE!).
