Sun is shining, kids are off school and it’s been fantastic seeing the Recreation Ground so busy this week with friends and families enjoying the open space while the weather is good!
We’ve seen cricket matches, birthday parties, people working out at the outside gym, bikes on the BMX track, football in the MUGA and little-uns on the play area. It’s exactly what this community space is here for.
The new flooring is being installed in the Memorial Leisure Centre this week too, which is great news! So, if you’re visiting, you’ll notice that the reception desk has been temporarily relocated to the small meeting room at the front of the building. From there you can walk through to reach the toilets, changing rooms, gym, Studio and Social Room.
Please note, the side door to access the building is no longer open to the public.
Unfortunately, we do have one disappointing update.
Staff have reported several incidents where toilet paper has been deliberately plugged into the sinks with taps left running. Unfortunately, this was not a one-off and has been reported several times in the daytime this week.
We simply ask that if you’re using the facilities, please leave them as you found them. We’re extremely proud to provide facilities that are for everyone to enjoy.
The Leisure Centre is still recovering from the flood in May, so incidents like this are particularly disheartening, and the cost they can incur is significant. We’d much rather spend that money on something else we can all enjoy.
We hope to see many more of you enjoying the Rec, while the sun shines, and thank you to everyone who continues to help look after these spaces. We look forward to seeing you at the Beach Party on Saturday 1st August!
