Harleston Town Council wishes to inform residents that the zip wire at the Memorial Recreation Ground has been taken out of use with immediate effect following the identification of health and safety concerns.
While we recognise that the zip wire is a popular feature of the recreation ground, particularly during the school holidays, the Council has a responsibility to ensure that all play equipment is safe for public use. As a result, we have taken the precautionary decision to close the equipment until it can be replaced.
We sincerely apologise for the timing of this closure and understand the disappointment this may cause to local children and families during the summer break.
We are pleased to confirm that the process of replacing the zip wire is already underway and arrangements are being made for a new installation. We will provide updates on progress and anticipated timescales as soon as further information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to provide a safe and enjoyable facility for our community.
