Town Councillors attend Standard Dedication

RBL Standard Flag Dedication Town Councillors were proud to attend a Dedication ceremony to the Harleston & District Royal British Legion’s Standard flag on 1st October.

You may remember, the original Standard was badly damaged by the fire at St John the Baptist Church on the same date last year. Fortunately, its remains were rescued by an RBL member, and have been placed inside a cabinet made by local resident, John Duckworth, for public view.

The Dedication of the Standard was held at London Road Church, where it is now on temporary display until it can be returned to St John’s. A new Standard has been purchased thanks to money raised by Harleston Town Football Club.

At the Dedication, performed by Branch Chaplain John Taylor, the Royal British Legion were also joined by members of the public.
