Each Town Councillor sits on one or more Committee to discuss specific projects.
Committees meet regularly, and the meeting dates can be found on the Council Meetings calendar.
Unless otherwise directly appointed, the Chairman of the Council is an ex-officio member of all Committees.
Amenities & Facilities Committee

Core Responsibilities:
- Open Spaces & Assets:
- Allotments – manage plots, conditions
- Recreation ground – maintenance of areas, car park, trees, bins, play areas
- Planters – ensure upkeep via The Planters Group
- War Memorial – ensure upkeep
- Public Infrastructure:
- Bus Shelters – inspect and maintain
- Streetlights – oversee repairs
- Public Toilets – inspect, maintain, ensure accessibility
- Buildings & Facilities:
- Car Parks – maintenance and signage
- Cemetery – inspect and maintain
- Memorial Leisure Centre – monitor usage and upkeep

Finance Committee

Delegated Functions:
- Prepare and monitor the annual budget
- Oversee income, expenditure, reserves, and financial risk
- Ensure compliance with Financial Regulations

HR Committee

Delegated Functions:
- Ensure legal compliance in employment
- Oversee recruitment, welfare, and retention
- Monitor staffing needs, appraisals, and training
- Advise on HR policies and contracts
Planning and Development Committee

Planning matters are delegated to the Town Clerk and that meetings will be convened if required.

Strategy Committee

Core Responsibilities:
- Strategy and vision – Develop and review long-term goals
- Neighbourhood plan – Progress key delivery areas (e.g. community building feasibility)
- Audit recommendations – Implement improvements
- Community engagement – Councillor surgeries, youth forum, website
- Tourism and market town – Visit Harleston and event support
- Legal matters – Policies, leases, legal reviews
